Heraeus has been present in Greater China (China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong) for more than 40 years, ever since it founded a precious metals sales office in Hong Kong in 1974. Today, Heraeus employs more than 4,400 people in around 10 locations across the region. In Greater China, Heraeus follows one of its main business principles: Being close to the customer. Hence, the company mainly manufactures its products in China for the Greater Chinese market. Eighty-three percent of Heraeus’ value creation in China is for Chinese customers. Greater China has thus become one of the top three markets for the company, providing around 43% of its global revenues.
In addition to facilities in Shenyang, Zhaoyuan, Changshu, Taicang, Shanghai, Sihui, as well as in Hong Kong, Taipei, and Kaohsiung (both in Taiwan), in 2015 Heraeus inaugurated a new site in Zhaoyuan, Shandong province with doubled capacity for producing precious metals based on industrial products for the electronics industry.
